A presentation on Agricultural Learning Resources at the 9th AOS workshop at the IAALD-AFITA-WCCA conference

During the 9th Agricultural Ontology Service (AOS) workshop, held on Aug. 26th 2008 during the IAALD-AFITA-WCCA Conference, Gauri Salokhe (FAO) presented the work that FAO, in strict collaboration with the Agricultural University of Athens, is conducting on the management of learning resources. After a first phase in which a survey was made of all the existing metadata sets describing learning resources, a Task Force was created to involve partners in activities and discussions that will hopefully bring to the adoption of a common approach in exchanging information on learning resources.

IAALD-AFITA-WCCA Conference – Session on New Development in Information Systems to Access Agricultural Research Outputs

This session featured presentations on tools for accessing agricultural research and on approaches used by organizations disseminating scientific research and knowledge.

I found the session very interesting, not much because I was presenting a project myself, but rather because other projects and approaches presented there had features that were very much in line with the approach that is behind the Web Ring “framework” that we, as GFAR and as members of the Coherence in Information for Agricultural Research for Development initiative (CIARD), were presenting.

Today it was the opening day of the World Conference on Agricultural Information and Information Technology, a joint congress of the International Association of Agricultural Information Specialist (IAALD), the Asian Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture (AFITA) and the World Congress of Computers in Agriculture (WCCA).
